Steps for Connecting Two Computers by Ethernet Cable

Sharing a file between two computers gets easy when the systems are connected to LAN or Local Area Connection. Even if want to share large sized data or want to play multiplayer games, LAN is entirely reliable and helpful. Using Crossover Ethernet cable is one of the best ways to connect two computers. An Ethernet cable establishes the connections between a computer and router, but a crossover Ethernet cable establishes the connection between computers through Windows OS. If there is any error occurring to connect computers through Ethernet cable, follow these easy steps to connect systems and enjoy sharing music, videos or playing multiplayer games with your friends.
1.    It is always necessary to verify if a cable is Crossover because standard Ethernet cable connects computer and router, not two systems. To verify the cable, check both ends of the cable. If the colored wires of one end do not match wires of the other end, then it is undoubtedly a Crossover Ethernet cable to connect computers through Windows OS.
Note: - Colored wires on both ends of the cable should not be identical to create LAN via Windows OS.
2.    Each end of the Ethernet cable must be plugged into the port on each computer to connect the computers.
3.    In any of the computer, go to Control Panel by clicking Start Menu.
4.    In the Control Panel> Network and Internet to select the option “Network and Sharing Center” and a new display will come.
5.    Click on “Change Adapter Settings” on the left sidebar.
6.    Open “Local Area Connection” and a box will open.
7.    Select- Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click properties.
8.    Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) window will pop up. Enter the I.P Address manually and click “Ok.” After entering the I.P Address, click on “Advanced Sharing Center.”
9.   There is an icon labeled, at the top of the Network and Sharing Window, as “Unidentified Network” from network map. Select and open the icon.
10. Click on the message to change the network discovery and file sharing settings, that arrived on the screen.
11.    Select and click “Turn on Network Discovery” and “Turn on File and printer sharing” to step closer in the completion of the process.
12.    Type administrator password if asked by the computer and press “Enter” on your keyboard. The computers are now visible in work and sharing center window which means the systems can be connected and ready to share files.
